FROM STAFF REPORTS

For the first time, a Green Bike station will open off-campus.

The opening ceremony of the first ASWSU-sponsored Green Bike station will take place at 1:30 p.m., March 6, on Colorado Street in front of Ruby Street Park.

ASWSU Vice President Kevin Massimino said he would like to extend an open invitation to students to attend the event.

The Green Bike station was funded through The Bookie dividend check that ASWSU receives annually.

The dividend check consists of profits from The Bookie that are redistributed back to students, and which ASWSU uses to fund various programs or infrastructure on campus.

ASWSU President Taylor Hennessey told the Evergreen in January that last year was the first time students were surveyed regarding how they would like the dividend to be spent; much of the feedback was in regards to on-campus transportation.

“The nice part of The Bookie dividend is that it’s not state dollars,” Hennessey said. “State money has certain regulations on how you can and cannot spend it.”
