WSU men’s golf finishes 15th

Washington State men’s golf was able to climb two places to finish in 15th at The Goodwin, held this past weekend in Stanford, Calif.

On the first day of the tournament the Cougars shot 8-over par, finishing with a score of 288 and earning them 14th place.

Senior Blake Snyder had the best performance for WSU, carding 2-under par (68) tied for 11th place.

On Saturday, the Cougars dropped down to 17th place carding a score of 297 (+17). Washington State was one stroke back from San Francisco and just eight strokes behind 10th place Colorado State (+17, 577).

Junior Michael Anderson carded four birdies to finish at par (70), bringing his total to 145 (+5).

“The teams are unbelievably stacked up,” Cougar Head Coach Garrett Clegg said in a press release. “A good score in the final round could pass a lot of teams. To do that we need five guys to go out and play well. Hopefully tomorrow we can put a good round together.”

After Sunday’s performance, the Cougars climbed up two spots to finish the tournament in 15th place (+35, 875).

WSU’s best were Anderson and Snyder, who finished off tournament play in a five-way tie for 48th place and final score of (+7, 217).

Redshirt junior Sang Lee and junior Charlie Mroz finished in a six-way tie for 73rd place with a score of 223 (+13).

Senior Jarrett Foote carded a final score of 227 (+17).

The tournament’s best was host Stanford, who finished with a score of 815 (-25). Junior Patrick Rodgers from Stanford won the tournament finishing with a final score of 196 (-14).

WSU will be back on the road April 12 to compete in the Hawkeye-Great River Entertainment Invitational, their last tournament of the season before the Pac-12 Men’s Golf.
