A scam phone call requesting money on behalf of the IRS was reported yesterday to the WSU Police Department.

The male caller stated there was a mistake in one’s tax refunds in past years and money was owed to the IRS, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page. The caller requests that money be transferred to an account from a Walmart or Money Tree store.

The post urges people to ignore the call: “The IRS will never request anyone to transfer money into an account. If you get a similar call do not transfer any money.”
