Golf takes a step back in day 2

During the second day of the Bandon Dunes Championship hosted by Gonzaga, the Washington State men’s golf team struggled to stay ahead of the nationally ranked competition, and fell back to 13th place.

After two rounds the Cougars dropped nine positions, hitting 33-over par to finish with a score of +35 (604) after two rounds.

Missouri, with a score of -3 (565), leads the competition, while Washington’s Jonathan Sanders is on top of the tournament with a score of -4 (138).

The top scorers for the Cougars, senior Jarrett Foote and junior Charlie Mroz, currently sit tied at 36th place.

Foote and Mroz finished off with scores of +7 (149). Foote hit 1-over from Monday’s performance and Mroz hit 3-over par.

The leader of the first round for the Cougs, senior Blake Snyder, hit a 13-over on Monday and finished with a total score of +10 (152) and is now tied for 48th place.

In fourth place for the Cougs is redshirt junior Alex Wagner, who finished with a total score of +14 (156). Following Wagner is junior Michael Anderson, who hit 13-over and is now at +15 (157) overall.

Washington State will finish off its final round of competition today seeking to gain back lost terrain after Monday’s performance.
