Alternative music fix provided by Gyros

Who doesn’t like live music? For me, live music is my life line. Having just transferred to WSU last semester, I didn’t realize there was actually a music scene in the Palouse.

For a year I lived from show to show, literally couch-surfing around different artists’ houses in Seattle. So to those of you feeling like living in a smaller city without live shows every other night leaves a piece of your heart missing, know you are not alone.

But fear not, for I bare good news.

While small, the music scene in the Palouse exists and I’m here to keep you informed. So mark your calendars and get in your cars, because tomorrow there are three great bands coming to Mikey’s Greek Gyros in Moscow.

Desert Noises, Aan and local group The Kitchen will step onstage at 9:30 p.m. to give us a good time. I couldn’t be more excited.

Here’s why:

With their debut album “27 Ways” releasing next month, Desert Noises is on tour making their way down the coast toward Austin, Texas.

Front Man Kyle Henderson wrote on Desert Noises’ Facebook page that the band’s name came to him in a dream, as did most of their songs.  This indie rock group is made up of Henderson, Tyler Osmond on bass, Patrick Boyer on guitar, and Brennan Allen on drums. You won’t want to miss rocking out with these dreamy 20-somethings.

Aan is a psychedelic-pop group from Portland that formed in 2007. Their first official LP, “Amor Ad Nauseum,” is being released today.  Bud Wilson, Reese Lawhon, Jon Lewis, and Jeff Bond make up this intoxicating group that will literally suck you in with their rich vocals and innovative sound. A Red Bull Sound Select band, you will not want to forego this opportunity to see them live.

Hailing from Moscow, Idaho with roots in Boise, The Kitchen includes Matt St Cyr on percussion and vocals, Rachel Couch on guitar and vocals and Daniel Bagley on bass and vocals. This local rock ‘n’ roll group has made appearances all over the Pacific Northwest from Treefort Music Fest 2013 to playing with Psychic Rites, The Cave Singers and more.

The Kitchen itself is not a band to miss, but when paired with Desert Noises and Aan, you would be making a huge mistake by not making the trek to Mikey’s Greek Gyros tomorrow.

Doors open at 9 p.m. Tickets cost $7 at the door and the event is all ages, so you really have no excuse. I’ll see you there.
