Spring back into shape with UREC

Lance Lijewski Evergreen Reporter

It’s Demo Week at the Student Recreation Center and Cougars across campus have four more days of free opportunities to train like a Spartan, strut some winter gear and dance up a sweat in Zumba classes.

Urec is hosting classes that introduce students, staff, and alumni to the variety of fitness options available. Both new and old programs will be featured this week as Associate Director Joanne Greene pushes to show students what the UREC has to offer.

Indo Board Yoga is one of the new programs being promoted this Thursday and Friday. Similar to traditional yoga, Indo Board is more intense and focuses on challenging ones balance and stressing the core. “It’s like yoga on a skateboard” said Assistant Director Jessica Whit.

Today intramural sports will have information tables set up throughout the building and presentations will also be available from many of their clubs. Skyler Archibald, Competitive Sports and Youth Programmer, hopes club stereotypes will be broken and that all interest groups can find something to enjoy in their athletic activities.

A women’s basketball league, spring Crossfit program and a fresh session of Spartan training are a few of the highlighted activities intramural sports has made available this semester.

Other opportunities available include dancing, martial arts, meditation, aquatics, and aerobic conditioning classes. More information can be found at urec.wsu.edu or at the information desk in the Rec Center.
