Charisma Taylor has had a fantastic freshman indoor track and field season so far, reaching the all-time WSU leader board in several events. Taylor, a freshman triple jumper from Nassau, Bahamas, also competes in the long jump and the 60-meter hurdles.

Charisma had a fantastic week, topping the leader boards in the women’s triple jump and the women’s long jump at the New Mexico Team Invitational. Her triple jump of 42 feet 6 ¼ inches defeated the second-place jumper by over two feet and was the longest indoor triple jump by a WSU athlete in history.

This jump also reset the freshman record she had set just a few weeks prior. In addition, Charisma had a dominant long jump of 19 feet 9 ½ inches, defeating her closest competitor by nearly a foot. The jump propelled Taylor onto the all-time WSU indoor record books, the mark sitting at No. 9 all time.

Taylor turns heads on the track as well, setting the ninth-fastest time in WSU history in the 60-meter hurdles at the Bronco invitational with a time of 8.47 seconds. This time was good enough for second in the meet, finishing 33-hundredths of a second behind Evonne Britton of the Evon Track Club.

WSU has a young track and field star in Charisma Taylor. A dominant triple and long jumper, Taylor is also an accomplished hurdler. She has found herself on the WSU top-10 list in all three events she has competed in.

Charisma Taylor is a bright spot on the Cougar track and field team and her record setting week is why she is this week’s Evergreen Athlete of the Week.
