Two WSU students have been released from hospitals after receiving treatment for injuries they received in a one-car rollover Sunday near Colfax.

The driver, 21-year-old Tyler Overton of Seattle, fell asleep at the wheel while driving southbound on Highway 195, according to a Washington State Patrol news release. He crossed over the northbound lane and into the ditch, rolling the car.

Both Overton and his passenger, 20-year-old Taylor Adams of Pullman, were transported to Whitman Community Hospital, according to the release. Overton was treated and released, a hospital official said. Adams was transferred to Spokane’s Sacred Heart Medical Center in serious but stable condition, and she was released after treatment.

The crash, which occurred just before 3 p.m., totaled the Honda CR-V. Overton was wearing a seatbelt, but Adams was not.

Washington State Patrol will pursue a second-degree negligent drive charge against Overton, according to the release.
