Mardi Gras raises money for Palouse Youth Association

The Palouse Youth Association held its Mardi Gras event in Moscow on Saturday night.
In her 10th year as event-runner, Genevieve Bode, Moscow Mardi Gras president, said she was happy with the turnout.
“Everyone enjoyed their time in the event,” Bode said. “It seemed like a great time.”
Bode said the venues were packed with both college students and community members in support of a great cause and a fun time.
Over the years, Bode has raised around $100,000 for the Palouse Youth Association. This money goes toward scholarships, events and activities, and organizations that support local children.
“We want to make sure people really know that the event was not only just for fun, but also for the people,” Bode said.
Bode said though all the venues were amazing, she did have a favorite.
“The Fabulous Kingpins were great as always,” Bode said. “They have done this event before, and they really demonstrate the Mardi Gras vibe that we want.”
Bode said that every event-goer had the opportunity to go to a venue of their interest. She said there was variety.
Bode said the Palouse Youth Association will announce the donation amount within the next three days, and the profits and donations will keep the event going another year.
“The main thing that I want people to remember is that this event isn’t just for a good time, it’s also an event for the children,” Bode said.
