Jessimae Peluso, most famously known for her commentary on the MTV series “Girl Code,” will perform at WSU on Thursday.

To bring laughter to the stressed students of WSU, Jessimae Peluso will visit the Pullman campus for a night of stand-up comedy.

The WSU Student Entertainment Board (SEB) is hosting Peluso, a stand-up comedian, to give students a way to relax during this end-of-the-year stress, SEB Speakers Programmer Ally McGuire said.

“I know comedy helps me feel less stressed,” McGuire said. “So I think students should go for a time to unwind a bit. Take a break from real life.”

Peluso began her career in comedy around 2001, and made her TV debut in 2013 when she joined the cast of MTV’s “Girl Code.”

McGuire said “Girl Code” pulled inspiration from “How I Met Your Mother,” a popular sitcom. In the show, characters follow a “Bro Code,” which includes rules like “don’t let your friends go out with girls like this.”

McGuire believes that because of Peluso’s popularity, she is a good person to bring to Pullman for a comedy show.

“She was very popular on ‘Girl Code,’ and since then she’s continued her stand-up career,” McGuire said. “And she’s been doing a great job.”

Peluso’s stand-up shows include more cohesive storytelling compared to her performances on “Girl Code,” McGuire said.

“So [she does] the longer-winded type jokes, because stand-up comedy is very different from ‘Girl Code,’ ” McGuire said. “She seems like the type that would cater to both [men and women] and be relatable to both.”

The comedy show will take place from 7 – 9 p.m. tomorrow in the CUB Auditorium. Admission at the door for WSU students is free, and admission for the public costs $5.
