For many students, the most terrifying part of college isn’t living on their own or the hard classes or the stress of meeting new people, it’s leaving their beloved pet at home. After living in the non-pet friendly dorms for a year, the determining factor for the perfect apartment could be where pets are allowed. Luckily for Pullman students, many off-campus residencies are pet-friendly.

The Campus Commons, located at 1920 NE Terre View Drive, is one of these many apartments that allow those four-legged family members. Owning a pet does come with a few extra fees, like with most other pet-friendly apartments. A one-time deposit of $250 for either a cat or a dog, and a monthly $25 fee is added to the rent, according to the Campus Commons website.

Campus Commons not only allow furry friends, but also have many amenities for their residents. On-site laundry and free printing centers allow students to save every bit they have to put toward costly tuition prices, states the website.

Campus Commons’ close proximity to campus add another bonus for the busy college student. A 15-minute walk to class, or an even shorter walk to one of many bus stops in the area make getting around from these apartments convenient, according to the website.

Another pet-friendly option is the Outlook Apartment complex, located at 620 NE Kamiaken Street. Pet owning fees once again apply, at one-time fees of $200 for feline friends and $400 for canines. Monthly rent for pets is also charged at $10 for cats and $20 for dogs.

Other amenities at Outlook include a full kitchen with a built-in dishwasher, garbage disposal and classy white-on-white appliances, according to the website. Each apartment also has a private patio or balcony to make it feel less cramped, as apartments can sometimes feel.

“I would definitely recommend this property and, in fact, I already have to a couple of my friends who did end up moving in,” said apartmentratings.com user karifree. “If you’re looking for a good place to live, give them a call!”

Birch Hills is DABCO’s only pet-friendly apartment, and they were designed specifically for these beloved pets, according to DABCO’s website. There is no separate pet deposit required and no breed restrictions. A 100-yard, fenced-in dog park is available as well as a limited number of outdoor kennels.

These properties are also located close to open fields and other areas perfect for taking the dogs out for some exercise. Covered and off-street parking is available for students who didn’t only bring their furry family, but their adored automobile as well.
