Student hospitalized after ‘altercation’

From Staff Report

Police responded twice on Thursday to reports of a male WSU student who had been in a fight.

The first report came at about 2:30 p.m. from a woman who said she saw the student physically fighting with another man.

Police officers arrived at the student’s residence on Northeast Colorado Street, where he confirmed an incident had occurred.

“He said he had been in an ‘altercation,’” Pullman Police Sgt. Sam Sorem said.

Sorem said the student showed signs of injury but refused transport to the hospital, and because the student was at home, police could not take him into protective custody.

The student later attended a class where a professor noticed signs of injury. Police responded to a report by the professor at about 7:30 p.m., and the student accepted transport to Pullman Regional Hospital.

Police are investigating the alleged fight and have made no arrests.
