One dead in Airport Road car crash

From staff reports

A two-vehicle accident Monday afternoon killed one woman and left another in the hospital, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The incident occurred about seven miles east of Pullman near the Washington-Idaho border.

Ruth A. Leritte, 31, of St. John, Wash. was pronounced dead at the scene.

Leritte was travelling westbound on the Pullman-Moscow Highway when she lost control of her vehicle and collided with an eastbound vehicle that was driven by Jeana M. Boyd, 34, of Moscow.

Boyd was transported to Pullman Regional Hospital.

The WSP speculated Leritte was driving too fast given icy road conditions.

Initially four departments responded to the incident. Police cordoned off the highway between mile markers 4 and 9.

Officers diverted traffic from the scene at the intersection of the highway and Airport Road.
