WSU hired Dori Borjesson as the new dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine.

Borjesson is chair of the Department of Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology at the University of California Davis’ School of Veterinary Medicine, according to WSU Insider.

Borjesson will start the position on July 20, according to WSU Insider.

Bryan Slinker, WSU interim provost and former dean, said she was reviewed highly by faculty and staff.

He said her responsibilities will include being the chief executive officer of the College of Veterinary Medicine. Her main role will be to lead the academic programs for veterinary students, both graduate and undergraduate majors.

Slinker said she will also work with the department chairs and school directors to advance the college in research.

He said she also has a background as a veterinary clinical pathologist and a National Institutes of Health funded scientist in the area for regenerative medicine.

Slinker said UC Davis is a successful and aspirational peer institution that WSU seeks to be more like and Borjesson is a great leader.
