IFC to vote whether to suspend Delta Upsilon

From staff reports

The WSU Interfraternity Council will hold an emergency meeting today to vote on whether to suspend Delta Upsilon following reports of sexual assault at the fraternity.

IFC President Nathan Harris said if the Senate decides to suspend the fraternity, it would no longer be recognized by the council and could not take part in council activities. The meeting will take place at 4 p.m. in Todd 130 and is open to the public.

The Delta Upsilon International Fraternity has already placed the WSU chapter on emergency suspension, according to a news release, and the member suspected in the sexual assault has been suspended pending investigation. This entails the cancellation of all chapter activities.

“We take these allegations with the utmost urgency and seriousness,” said Justin Kirk, Delta Upsilon international fraternity executivedirector, in the release.

Pullman Police Cmdr. Chris Tennant said last week that police were investigating a potential sexual assault after an 18-year-old woman told them on Sept. 2 that she had been assaulted at Delta Upsilon. Police searched the fraternity and interviewed a potential suspect in the assault.

Tennant also said the first woman and a second woman, 17, said they felt ill after drinking at the fraternity and believed they may have been drugged.
