Moscow hosts First Thursday to promote community

Supporting local businesses takes the endeavor of an entire community. In Moscow, Idaho, the first Thursday of every month encourages residents to spend locally through celebration of community talents.

Moscow First Thursday draws in its audience through art exhibitions and refreshments at local businesses. Artists from the area team up with businesses to showcase their artwork and draw in crowds for this monthly event.

Garnering its support from Moscow Arts Commission, Buy Local Moscow and Moscow Chamber of Commerce, Moscow First Thursday commits itself to promoting the local talents of artists of all forms while encouraging growth of the town’s economy through its businesses.

“Building off the popularity of the ArtWalk, First Thursday offers a monthly, year-round opportunity for the community to enjoy visual art openings, readings, music, film, and other art at local businesses,” Moscow Arts Commission member Alexandra Teague stated on the Moscow First Thursday Facebook page.

From 5 – 8 p.m., guests can walk along from business to business, taking in live music, visual art of various forms, enjoying baked goods and beverages, and showing their support for Moscow.

Moscow First Thursday presents a concept intended to support talents of the community. The event is free and open to the public and occurs on the first Thursday of every month.
