Pullman police arrested a 25-year-old man early Friday morning after he allegedly brandished a BB gun resembling a handgun during a fight outside The Zzu Bar & Grill.
Police responded to a report of a fight at approximately 2:30 a.m. The suspect had fled in a car before they arrived. Police located him near the Pullman Aquatic & Fitness Center and during a search officers found the weapon, a realistic metal BB gun.
“From two, three feet away you couldn’t tell it from a real gun,” said Pullman Police Commander Chris Tennant.
The suspect was arrested on charges of second-degree assault, felony harassment and DUI.
Witnesses reported the suspect and victim began arguing over a woman. The suspect then retrieved the gun from his car and threatened to kill the victim.
The victim wrested the gun and began to beat up the suspect, Tennant said. The suspect escaped, grabbed the gun and drove off.
Tennant said the suspect suffered minor injuries during the fight, and the victim reportedly broke a finger.
