They advise, we decide

Your professors are not the only ones who dedicate their days to student success.

Tami Vik has lived in Pullman for 25 years, and has been advising students at the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication for the last 12 years. As adviser, she helps students map their WSU careers and their lives beyond.

“I just like seeing them grow,” Vik said. “They’re the age of my kids and I feel like they’re my kids.”

Born in Boise, Idaho, Vik said she loves scrapbooking and home décor. Her experience in customer service has helped her get nervous and shy students to enjoy planning their time at WSU.

She said when students enter her office, her priority is to make them feel welcome.

“My favorite thing is just seeing them grow,” Vik said.
