Poetry slam tonight

The Student Entertainment Board (SEB) is hosting a Student Poetry Slam on April 6 and a performance by special guest Kavindu “Kavi” Ade on April 7.

“The slam poet (Ade) usually speaks about social inequality and gender identity,” said the social media manager for SEB, Callie Coleman.

Ade is a popular slam poet and activist for their personal poems that touch on difficult subjects, and their most famous poem is one called “IT,” according to the SEB Facebook page.

Before the guest poet, students will have a chance to share their own poetry. The contest winner will recieve $300 and the opportunity to open for Ade’s performance the following night, according to SEB’s Facebook page.

All is invited and welcome to share their poetry at the Student Poetry Slam.

The Student Poetry Slam is 6 p.m. today in the CUB Auditorium. Kavindu Ade performs at 6 p.m. tomorrow in the CUB Auditorium. Admission is free.
