Entering the Home Stretch

Start – Eddie Lacy, RB, Packers

Although Eddie Lacy struggled mightily against the New York Giants last weekend, he should remain a part of fantasy lineups in most leagues. Minnesota proved against Seattle that their defense isn’t ultra-threatening for opposing rushers. Lacy isn’t Marshawn Lynch, but if you need steady production, he’s your man. With Aaron Rodgers on the bench, Lacy will continue to receive check-down looks in the passing game. With Scott Tolzien at the helm of the Packers’ offense, expect Lacy to get his fair share of opportunities for success.

Sit – Ray Rice, RB, Ravens

Ray Rice had a dominant performance against the Bears last week, but don’t expect showings like that to become a trend for the Ravens running back. Rice has had a rollercoaster season in 2013. Some are undoubtedly wondering which fantasy god they angered during their August draft, and others have already dumped Rice on the waiver wire or in a trade. Rice hadn’t had a touchdown in four weeks heading into last Sunday’s game, and his best performance over that four-week period was a 7.2-point showing in NFL.com leagues against the Steelers.

Start – Case Keenum, QB, Texans

Last week, starting Case Keenum felt great. Then Houston broke my heart and pulled him in the second half to try to generate a spark with former starter, Matt Schaub, who posted a completion percentage just less than 50 percent and had no touchdowns. Keenum has been named the starter against Jacksonville, and once again the matchup is favorable. If Kubiak and his coaching staff can stick with Keenum for the entire second half this week, he will post solid numbers – numbers good enough to fill in for an injured or bye week quarterback.

Sit – Jordan Reed, TE, Redskins

Never mind the fact that Jordan Reed did not practice Wednesday for Washington. If Reed becomes available later in Week 12, shy away from inserting him in a winning fantasy lineup. Reed had 12 yards last week before suffering his concussion, and discounting a tough 5.5-point performance (according the ESPN standard scoring) against the Eagles three weeks ago, Reed has been solid since his 19-point clinic in Chicago. This week, it’s just too risky. Reed faces a fired up San Francisco defense fighting for the NFC West and is playing on Monday night. If he does go inactive on Monday for some reason, a fantasy team with him in its lineup will be caught dead in the water.

Start – Baltimore Ravens D/ST, vs. Jets

After some tough love for Ray Rice, it’s time to praise the Ravens defense. Despite their challenges, this weekend will be an opportunity for this Ravens team to have a defensive field day. Geno Smith has turned in two three-point performances in the last three weeks for New York while also tallying five interceptions. There’s a possibility for some fun in the Baltimore secondary this weekend, and if they do fluster Smith, which they definitely can, Rex Ryan could have a QB controversy brewing in New York.
