The ASWSU Judicial Board will announce its decision on an election bylaw interpretation request Wednesday.

The three students who filed the request were Election Board Chair Bradley Warren, and Sens. Lindsay Schilperoort and Savannah Rogers. They met with the Judicial Board on Friday to discuss the bylaw in question. Warren said he filed the interpretation request — meant to clarify a section of ASWSU’s bylaws — to ensure the election is as open as possible.

“I don’t want this board to be seen as untransparent and unable to run a fair election,” he said.

The bylaw section the Judicial Board is interpreting, section 601.02e, specifies when members of the Election Board may run for office.

The bylaws state a member may run for election as long as they run before the filing period has begun. The Judicial Board is deciding whether the filing period began before packets were distributed to candidates in January, or after the filing and declaration deadlines in February.
