A new streaming room is now available on the third floor of the CUB in room 310, which was once a conference room.

“Since the pandemic started, there has been a very high demand for streaming,” said media technician supervisor Mitch Weisbrod.

When the lockdown happened, they wanted to find a way to support people and programs by putting events in a professional streaming room, Weisbrod said.

There are multiple cameras, screens and microphones available for use inside the streaming room, he said.

Departments and registered student organizations can reserve the room on the CUB website, said Spencer Desmarais, assistant director of event services and operations.

“It is available for student groups if they want to host a fundraiser without worrying about their internet dropping out or background noise,” he said.

The goal for the new streaming room is for students to use it independently, Desmarais said.

“It is very much meant to be an easy use space with a lot of very high-tech gear,” he said.

A YouTube video was created on how to properly use the streaming room that demonstrates step-by-step instructions on how to get going once a student is in the room, Desmarais said.
