Americans with Disabilities Celebration to be held July 22

Event will have a pop-up vaccination clinic; Pullman Community Gardens to accept award

An annual award is given to community members who assist in overcoming barriers for individuals with disabilities.

Disability Action Center NW is hosting an Americans with Disabilities Celebration on Thursday, marking the 31st anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. 

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mountain View Park in Moscow. Participation is free and open to the public, according to a DAC NW press release.

The event will have a resource fair, wheelchair obstacle course, door prizes, kites for kids, a pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinic and free barbecue lunches. Free meal boxes will be available for those experiencing food insecurity, according to the release. 

DAC NW is presenting the Tom McTevia Memorial Award to Pullman Community Gardens at Koppel Farm at 11 a.m. McTevia advocated for community accessibility in the Coeur d’Alene area before his death in 2015, according to the release.

The annual award is given to community members who assist in overcoming barriers for individuals with disabilities. Over the past year, Koppel Farm secured funding to build a fully accessible garden plot within the community gardens, according to the release.
