Start – Jay Cutler, QB, Bears

Jay Cutler has been a quiet producer this year in the fantasy circuit. Over his five starts, he’s been a solid – not phenomenal – option at quarterback. Expect Cutler to seize a big opportunity to heat things up this week and take his game to the next level. The Bears will take on the New York Giants who have one of the worst passing defenses in the NFL. With the Bears facing a team with a 0-5 record, Cutler will want to go for the kill early.

Sit – Pierre Thomas, RB , Saints

Some say numbers never lie. Last week, they lied. Pierre Thomas worked his way off the fantasy plank by cashing in on some receptions in the Saints previous game. He had nine catches and two touchdowns, which helped inflate his fantasy numbers after averaging only about three yards per carry on the ground. When a running back relies on scoring points by receiving, it’s never a safe bet.

Start – Vincent Jackson, WR, Buccaneers

Two words: Philadelphia Eagles. When offenses take on the Eagles, the results are usually good. The biggest question mark for Jackson comes from his quarterback situation, which has been volatile to say the least. I still like Jackson’s chances to create some space, and he’s hungry for a touchdown. I expect his desire to finally pay off this week against a lower-level secondary.

Sit – Eddie Lacy, RB, Packers

The Baltimore Ravens still have one piece of their Super Bowl defense. They have been relatively strong at defending the rushing attack, and although Eddie Lacy is a feature back in Green Bay, the Packers might show a stronger shift toward the passing attack. While Lacy will pay dividends as a pass protector, that stat doesn’t show up on fantasy scoreboards, so I’d seek other sure-fire running back options this week.

Start – Robert Griffin III, QB, Redskins

The Dallas Cowboys have been destroyed by opposing quarterbacks this season. It’s finally time for Robert Griffin III to turn things up. Dallas has allowed 14 touchdown passes and the most points of any defense to opposing quarterbacks in 2013. If RGIII can’t find some success this week, then chances are he is destined for a tough year against other opponents as well. RGIII is a fighter and will do everything in his power to continue to progress after his knee injury. This is a pivotal week for Griffin, following a Bye Week.
