WSU’s School of Music is reviving its Fridays at the Clock series for one last night with performances by students and faculty members.

“We’re trying to diversify the composers that are being performed because for such a long time, it’s just been a bunch of dead white guys,” said Sophia Tegart, School of Music teaching assistant professor. “Now, it’s the perfect time to introduce audiences to music by women and composers of color.”

The concert takes place from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday between Byran Hall and Holland Library, according to a WSU events post. Attendees are not required to mask because the event is outdoors, but social distancing is recommended.

“[There’s] a wide array of music. We’ve got string players, piano, brass, and flutes and oboes and all sorts of stuff,” Tegart said.

Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs to sit on during the event, according to the post.

This concert marks the end of the series for now, but the School of Music will host regular concerts and student recitals starting next week, Tegart said.
