Today, WSU Athletics announced a new COVID-19 policy requiring everyone over 12 years old to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of a game.

The new policy goes into effect in October. This follows similar announcements from the Seattle Kraken, Seattle Seahawks and the Washington Huskies, according to a WSU Athletics press release.

Fans are also required to wears masks at all times, whether indoor or outdoor, while attending football games. This is a change from the previous requirement that required fans to wear masks only while indoors, according to the press release.

All of this comes after an unvaccinated fan reportedly attended Saturday’s game against Utah State with a fever of 102 degrees.

Further details will be communicated at a later date, according to the press release.
