The WSU Accounting Department received a $1.5 million anonymous gift last week, which will be used to address student engagement, diversity and curriculum improvements.

The donation will be instrumental in the Carson College of Business’s vision of becoming the top business school destination in the Pacific Northwest, according to a WSU Insider article.

Bernard Wong-On-Wing, professor and Accounting Department chair, said in the article that the donation will be allocated toward three primary objectives:

  1. Creating an environment that motivates and promotes more active learning and student engagement.
  2. Continued pursuit of teaching excellence and innovation of the current accounting curriculum.
  3. Recruitment and retention of underrepresented and diverse students.
