The Cougars finished first at the Stockton Invitational last year and this year is almost as sweet as the team landed in the second spot on the podium.

Sam Renner and company tied with the team from UC Irvine with a score of 836, just six points behind the first-place team from Grand Canyon University.

Renner, who led the pack, shot a 206 and scored an eighth-place selection.

Along with Renner, his teammates Preston Bebich, Pono Yanagi and Jaden Cantafio saw the green for the Cougars. The golfers chalked up scores of 207, 214, and 215. They would place tenth, 37th and 43rd respectively.

Bringing up the rear is Daniel Kim, the freshman from Mukilteo, Washington with his first start this season. His season debut featured a score of 218 and 55th place.

WSU was the only PAC-12 team in attendance, however, our neighbor to the east, University of Idaho showed up with a 13th-place performance.

The two teams have competed alongside each other twice now and Vandals will host the Cougs in mid-March at the Bandon Dunes Golf Club in Oregon.

The completion of the Stockton Invitational marks a third of the season done for the team. Coach White has definitely put together a respectable season with a first-place, 12th place, and two second-place performances.

The Cougs will return to the brisk weather of the Palouse for a little over a week before returning to California to compete in the Saint Mary’s Invitational.

The invitational will play from November 31 through November 2 at the Poppy Hills Golf Club in Monterrey, California.
