With the conclusion of the first week of NBA basketball, only four of the 30 NBA teams are still undefeated. There are also six teams that did not win a game in the first week.

The undefeated teams are: the Portland Trail Blazers, Boston Celtics, Utah Jazz and Milwaukee Bucks. The teams yet to record a win are: the Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers, Sacramento Kings, Oklahoma City Thunder and the Houston Rockets.

Portland Trail Blazers (3-0)

The 3-0 Portland Trail Blazers got off to a hot start, winning every game in week one. They defeated the Sacramento Kings 115-108 after being down most of the game. They then defeated the Phoenix Suns 113-111 in overtime after a tough layup from Blazer guard Anfernee Simons with a few seconds left to win the game. They then defeated the Lakers 106-104 after a deep three from Damian Lillard put the Blazers up two, then newly acquired Jerami Grant made a tough layup with three seconds left to regain the two point lead, where Lebron James missed the game-tying jumper.

Lillard has scored 20 points against Sacramento, 41 against Phoenix and 41 against the Lakers to bring his average points per game to 34, which is third in the league. Simons came up big against Sacramento with 22 points, and Grant was huge in all three games, scoring 23 against Sacramento and 16 against the Lakers.

Blazers rookie Shaedon Sharpe has played over 10 minutes in every game so far. He scored 12 points in his debut including going 3-3 from three. After a scoreless night against Phoenix, Sharpe scored four against the Lakers in 16 minutes.

All three of the Blazers games so far this year have been close, but they won them all. Look for some more close games next week as they take on the Nuggets, Heat and Rockets.

Boston Celtics (3-0)

The Boston Celtics sit atop the Eastern Conference with a 3-0 record. The Bucks are right behind them but only played two games last week.

So far, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have proved lethal together, combining for 70 points in their first game against the 76ers as they both scored 35 points. Their second game, Tatum scored 29 while Brown scored 28. In their final game of week one saw Tatum score 40 as the Celtics beat the Magic.

Tatum is first in the NBA in points per game currently with 34.7. Brown is fifth with 25 points per game. The Celtics take on the Bulls, Cavaliers and Wizards in week two, do not be surprised if they are 6-0 heading into week three.

Philadelphia 76ers (0-3)

The 76ers started the 2022-23 season with three straight losses. They lost 126-117 to the Celtics, then lost 90-88 in a defensive battle against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks. Then the Spurs got the better of Philly 114-105.

On the season, James Harden is averaging 26 points and 9.3 assists per game, solid numbers, but not good enough for the player he is expected to be. Joel Embiid is having a rough start to the season on the offensive end but is still scoring an average of 27 points a game and grabbing 13 rebounds. Their problem is defense, they can not stop any team, *no comma – CH and do not have enough firepower yet to win games. They take on the Pacers and then the Raptors twice in week two, looking for their first win in 2022.

Los Angeles Lakers (0-3)

Russell Westbrook, Anthony Davis, LeBron James and Patrick Beverley have led the Lakers to an 0-3 start in 2022. After a 123-109 loss to the Golden State Warriors on opening night, the Lakers lost 103-97 to the Los Angeles Clippers, a game where Kawhi Leonard came off the bench and scored 14 points. Their most recent game was a 106-104 loss to Lillard and the Trail Blazers.

James is scoring 27.3 points per game and assisting 7.3 times a game. His point guard Westbrook is averaging 10.3 points a game and 4.3 assists. In their second game of the season, he scored two points and went 0-11 from the field.

The Lakers play the Nuggets twice and the Minnesota Timberwolves once in week two. The Lakers could easily be 0-6 after two weeks if they do not figure out their offensive game plan.
