On Monday, WSU football added a duo of three-star recruits to their 2024 recruiting class to bring their total to four players, tallying 12-total stars of talent. The new recruits bolster the future of the offense, one on the offensive line and one joining the receiver corp.

After the two previous recruits are on the defensive line, the Cougs begin to show their balance in recruiting.

Looking at the new recruits, one is a Washington native and the other is Tennessee-born, proving that Pullman is a destination for those all around the country.

First up is 6-foot-6 offensive lineman Carson Osmus. Hailing from Camas, Washington, and playing at Camas High School, he had offers from Colorado State, Idaho, Nevada and Portland State, according to 247sports.

Being the 25th-ranked recruit in the state, his commitment is a big get for the Cougs going forward.

Osmus addresses a major concern of the WSU team, an offensive line unit that ranked 125th in the nation with 46 sacks allowed in 2022. It was not just a passing protection issue, as they ranked 118th in the nation in tackles for loss allowed, according to the NCAA

While they did rank higher in certain statistics, there is always the ability to improve what at times, was a low-ranking national unit.

In 2022, they ranked 92nd nationally in average line yards (2.58), 74th in power success rate (66.7%) and 90th in stuff rate (18.8%), according to Football Outsiders.

The second recruit added is wide receiver Isaiah Cobbs of Munford, Tennessee. Choosing WSU over offers from Middle Tennessee State, Memphis and Alabama State, the 5-foot-9 Cobbs is a speed threat, given his track background.

Cobbs is just an inch taller than 2022 standout WR Robert Ferrel and it appears that when he is ready, he may be filling a similar role to the transfer wideout.

Osmus and Cobbs join the two three-star defensive linemen Hyrum-Benjamin Moors of Kahuku, Hawaii, and Jackson Cowgill of Erie, Colorado. As it stands, the four players rank the Cougs as the 78th-best national class, with room to improve as more potential recruits sign on to “The Den.”
