The Society of Women Engineers and Association of Women in STEM will be hosting a series of events to honor women in STEM.

The events will be held on March 18, 20 and 21 to coincide with Women’s History Month. The week will begin with handing out free coffee outside the CUB from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on March 18.

Rachel Voke, senior civil engineering major, said she serves as the Society of Women Engineers activities coordinator and the events are a result of the collaboration between the Society and the Association of Women in STEM.

“The last one was held in 2019,” Voke said. “It used to be an annual event but due to COVID it stopped and we’re trying to get it started back up again.”

The week will culminate with a dinner and panel both held in the CUB senior ballroom from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. on March 21. The panelists will include Erika Offerdahl, undergraduate education associate director, Jillian Cadwell, civil engineering research associate faculty and Microsoft Logistics Director Angelina Evans.

“It’s free admission for all students to come. We’re going to have a panel of women in different STEM fields speak at the beginning,” Voke said. “For the dinner portion students can talk to industry professionals or even network and get to know different representatives for the companies that have come.”

Students interested can visit their page on Handshake to register to attend the dinner on Thursday.
