WSU Police respond to threat at Global Scholars Hall on March 27.

A WSU Alert was sent out Wednesday morning informing the community of a threat in Global Scholars Hall.

The individual is no longer a threat and is currently in custody, according to the alert. It was advised to stay clear of the area while investigations are going on.

Global Scholars Resident Alyssa Nguyen (she/they) said they were in their fourth-floor dorm room with headphones in, so they were not aware initially of what was happening, but eventually heard the word ‘arrest’ tossed around followed by a gunshot and a cry of pain.

Nguyen said she assumed the police had shot at the suspect, but does not know for sure because she did not see what happened. She did hear calm voices after and did not feel like she was in danger, but was concerned by the fact that there was a gunshot on the floor.

“[I was] shocked, for sure, a little bit afraid, Nguyen said.

An eyewitness saw someone leave the dorm on a stretcher, according to a KXLY article.

WSU Police are at the scene but have not yet made comments.
