The City of Pullman announced Monday the city administrator, Mike Urban, would be stepping down.
Mike Urban, however, said he did not know he would be stepping down until a staff member told him, according to Moscow-Pullman Daily News.
“I heard from staff I resigned before I knew I had,” Urban said. “I believe I’d know if I resigned.”
Urban was put on leave late March due to an investigation by Washington State Patrol for connections to the Jake Opgenorth sexual assault investigation. Urban was brought back to work April 17.
WSP found Opgenorth had most likely used Urban’s name to cover up contact information from the woman Opgenorth was having a year-long affair with.
Urban was absolved from the investigation. No charges were filed against Opgenorth, but he resigned nonetheless.
