On Sunday night, around 9 p.m., Pullman was lit up by lightning storms across the sky.
The lightning lasted for nearly an hour, with flashes happening every one to two minutes.
The lightning is the latest in a two-week stretch that has brought extreme weather to Pullman. Pullman was hit with five straight days of 90-degree high’s from Aug. 22nd-26th. After a few days of rain and clouds, Pullman got another six days in a row of 90-degree sunshine from Aug. 30th to Sept. 4th.
Not only has the heat been extreme, but air quality has been poor, leading to difficult conditions for students who frequently walk to class.
Sunday’s lightning might mark an unofficial end of the summer heat with a final summer storm. According to the weather channel, today is the last day of the year Pullman is expected to see a high temperature above 80 degrees.
