The strike halting the repaving of a nine-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 195 beginning south of Pullman ended Monday. The $3.5 million project has been rescheduled for spring 2026, though it remains unknown when work and traffic will resume.
The repaving ground to a halt Aug. 12 when members of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 302 went on strike a week into repaving both lanes of traffic. The IUOE has not revealed a reason for the strike, nor has the union publicly commented on the situation.
The project was originally scheduled to run from August to September. Paving was additionally scheduled to occur overnight from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Friday.
