Hailey Lewis has been elected as the new mayor of Moscow. Lewis won the position by nearly 70% of the vote in Tuesday’s election, according to results from the Latah County auditor’s office.
Lewis obtained 69.9% of the vote, with 4,620 votes. Her opponent, Alex Simon, won 30.1% of the vote, receiving 1,981 votes.
In Latah County, around 42% voter turnout was recorded, with 8,732 ballots cast out of 20,579 registered voters, according to Vote Idaho.
Latah County has a population of approximately 40,315 people, as of the 2024 American Community Survey. This means around 48.95% of Latah County residents aren’t registered to vote in their county (around 19,736 non-voters).
There were also three open at-large city council seats on the ballot, with eight individuals in the running. The winners were Evan Holmes, Sage McCetich and Scott Sumner.
The results of Latah County’s election were last updated Wednesday morning, according to Vote Idaho. The current numbers will remain unofficial until later certified by county election officials, in accordance with Idaho state voting procedures, according to the Idaho Secretary of State website.
