Tuition may go up for the tenth consecutive year.
WSU is pursuing a 3.3% hike to be approved during Friday’s Board of Regents meeting. The maximum raise allowed by the state is 3.3%, marking the third consecutive time the university has upped rates by the highest amount allowed.
The hike would drive resident undergraduate tuition up by nearly $400 and non-resident undergraduate tuition by almost $1,000.
Graduate resident tuition, for both the in-person and Global campus, would go up $445, and Graduate non-resident tuition would go up by almost $1,000.
Student government system wide has condemned the potential raise, saying WSU should lower the raise to 2.8%, and find alternate routes of dealing with budget shortfalls.
Changes to Gesa may be on the way
Also on the docket for Friday’s Regents meeting is approval of $12 million in donor-funded improvements to Gesa Field.
The improvements would include a new video board, speakers and lights. The renovation is expected to conclude before the start of the 2026 WSU football season.
WSU has raised $5.5 million so far, and if another $1.5 million is not raised before Dec. 15, the renovations will be pushed back.
Gesa, which was last renovated in 2012, has reached 85% capacity on average this football season, according to WSU Athletics statistics.
