The WSU Cougars are set to kick off against the Utah State Aggies in the 2025 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. The Daily Evergreen will be providing live coverage throughout the game! Kick off is 11 P.M PST. The Cougs look to break 4 bowl game losing streak. 17,041 in attendence largest potato bowl since 2018.
WSU is favored on ESPN with a 57 percent chance to win. Both teams finished the year 6-6 and will try to bring home the Potato Bowl to finish their season. WSU head coach Jimmy Rogers will not coach the team after taking a Job as Iowa State head coach. Interm head coach Jessie Bobbit will lead the Cougs before taking a Job and joining Jimmy Rogers at Iowa State.
Quarterback and senior Zevi Eckhaus takes his last college football start. Zevi noted in the pre game press conference on Dec 20 about taking his last start.
“Obviously this wasn’t promised for us going into that last game. We still had to win one to be here. So just proud of the team, their ability to fight through everything that’s happened in season, all the ups and downs. Giving us one more opportunity to be together, to be here, play as a team. Very grateful for this opportunity”.
WSU finished their regular season with win at home against Oregon State. Utah State lost their last game against Boise state by 1 point.

Quarter 1
Utah State wins the coin toss and will start with the ball after electing to receive.
3 and out for the Aggies. They punt to WSU. WSU takes over.
3rd down and 6 for the Cougs. Zevi completes pass for the first down by Josh Meredith. Hurry up offense for the Cougs. Another deep throw lands the Cougs in enemy territory caught by Tre Leckner.
3rd and 7 for the Cougs after a 3 yard catch by Tony Freeman. Tony Freeman has also stated that he will enter the transfer portal.
Incomplete pass leads to a field goal by Jack Stevens that is no good. Score remains 0-0. Utah State takes over with the ball.
Sack from WSU defense puts Aggies on their own 3. Aggies forced to punt. Cougs take over at their own 44 yard line.
Eckhaus connects with Josh Meredith for a first down and 15 yards. Wazzu charged first timeout after an injuired player Jonny Lester.

Cougs have the ball on the Aggies 31 after a late hit penatly on Utah State. Zevi Eckhaus is sacked for 15 yards by John Miller brining up 4th adn 20. Cougars punt.

Barns finds Brady Bonds for 17 yards. Utah State at their own 30. 9 minutes left in the half. Deep pass is deflected by safety Tucker Large who goes down with injury.
Tony Freeman returns the punt for 29 yards. Cougs take over on the Aggies 47.
3rd and 9 for the Cougs. Eckhaus finds Jeremiah Noga deep for 17 yards. Eckhaus looks for Meredith on a deep pass in the endzone but ends up incomplete.
3rd and 9 for the Cougs. Zevi looks for Meredith again and completes in with a jumping catch bringing the Cougs to the 4 yard line. Eckhaus runs for 2 trying to stretch for the endzone.
On the next play Eckhaus finds tight end Hudson Cedarland in the end zone for a 1 yard touchdown. Hudson Cederland was recruited to Wazzu as a linebacker and scored his first collegiate touchdown.

3rd and 4 for the Aggies. Bryson Barnes sacked by defensive end Buddha Peleti. Utah State punts back to the Cougars.
Cougs take over at their own 25. Eckhaus finds Freeman for a first down. Eckhaus scrambled for another first down bringing the Cougs to the 50 yard line. 2 minute timeout.
Eckhaus connects with Alleyne for a first and another short complettion to Meredith puts the Cougs in the Redzone.
4th and 1. Offense stays out and Angel Johnson is stopped for a loss. Utah State takes over on downs with 15 seconds in the half.

After a 2 yard loss from Zevi he is pressured to throw it out of bounds on 3rd and the Cougs kick a field goal to put the Cougs up 17-0
3 and out from Utah State. WSU takes over at their own 19.
Maxwell Woods secures a first down with a 20 yard rush. Zevi fins Tony Freeman for 18 yards. 15 Yard pentaly for targeting. Utah State’s Ike Larson has been disqualified for the rest of the game.
2nd and 8. Zevi finds Tony Freeman who leads up with one hand for a 8 yard touchdown but is incomplete. 3th and 8 Zevi is unable to get the ball to completed and Jack Stevens kicks another field goal putting the Cougs up 20-0.

Eckhaus finds Meredith deep for a first down. Cougs continue to drive.
Eckhaus is intercepted by saftey Gio Kafenzis, his first career interception. On the next play Bryson Barnes finds Brady Boyd for 43 yards. Utah state in the redzone.
3rd and out brings 4th down. 4th and 5, Utah State offence staying on the field. Pass interference called on Matthew Durrene giving Utah State the ball on the 2 yard line.

Zevi Eckhaus with a first down rush. Eckhaus deep pass finds wide reciver and red shirt freshman Landon Wright for a 39 yard touchdown. Cougs lead 27-7.
Utah State drived down to the Cougar 32 after some complete passes from quarterback Barnes. Defensive holding call puts Utah State on the 22 yard line.
Designed quarterback run ends in Bryson Barnes leaving field with an injury. Jacob Conover substitutes in as quarterback. Conover finds Brady Boyd for a 31 yard touchdown. The score is 27-14 with 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter.
