Under a blue ceiling with soft jazz in the air, WSU’s Student Entertainment Board kicked off its Up All Night Casino Night, with fun casino-style tables, games and the opportunity to win prizes from them.
The event was held from 8 p.m. to midnight Friday in the Compton Union Building. Students could spend their night playing all the classic games found in Las Vegas like blackjack, poker and roulette.
Students had the opportunity to win prizes including a television, a massage gun, a record player and more. Mocktails and finger foods were also provided.

Students often find these events as a nice break from the everyday hustle and bustle of school and work.
“It’s nice seeing a lot of people here who aren’t focused on studies or extracurricular activities,” said Kyle Johnson, a second year civil engineering major. “It’s fun to be here to see what the events are all about.”
In addition to the games, food and drink were provided by South Fork Public House. This was the first SEB event where students 21 and over were able to purchase alcohol. Students with valid IDs could enjoy beer and wine. There was also soda, water and mocktails for non-drinkers.
Jenissa Hepton, SEB’s Up All Night programmer, said the option to purchase alcohol has been in the works for a couple of years now.
“We met with the CUB a lot and discussed how we’re going to be able to keep it safe and monitored and we were able to partner with South Fork to help us purchase the alcohol,” she said.
Hepton went on to say how important it was to have people in attendance monitoring the alcohol sales, wristbands and ID’s.

“We have an ID checking booth, so anyone who wants to purchase alcohol has to go through this booth,” said Hepton. “It’s through Ally —that’s the company that is doing it, and there is alcohol surveillance that’s monitoring everything”.
SEB also had a photo booth set up and recommended students get into the spirit by wearing roaring ‘20s inspired outfits.
