The Sigma Chi fraternity at WSU has lost its recognition for one year.
According to the school’s transparency report, a hearing was held Feb. 23. An investigation into the fraternity had been ongoing since October 2025, when reports first surfaced about incidents involving hazing and alcohol being served to minors.
The fraternity now faces loss of recognition for a year, though that can be shortened to five-and-a-half months if the chapter completes its sanctions by April 17. The chapter facilities must also be alcohol-free for one year after reinstatement.
Assigned sanctions include hazing training, membership review, submission of planning documents, new member education and meeting with the Center of Community Standards.
