The dance company, Jesús Muñoz Flamenco, will be performing at 6 p.m on April 26 at the Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre in Moscow.
The performance is hosted by Festival Dance. Festival Dance and Performing Arts Association is a non-profit that’s been dedicated to the performing arts and dance education since 1972.
“Festival Dance is thrilled to bring Flamenco back to the Palouse and welcome Jesús Muñoz Flamenco for their first appearance in Moscow,” said Tim Sievers, executive director of Festival Dance, in a press release.
Flamenco is an art style that focuses on dance, music and guitar while being deeply rooted in traditional folklore, and is meant to evoke a strong emotional connection between performers and audience members.
According to the official website, Jesús Muñoz Flamenco was founded in 2010 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, by Jesús Muñoz to create Flamenco art in Muñoz’s “own unique style” incorporated into the art form.
The website states the company has fused traditional Flamenco with Latin, Jazz and Hip-Hop as well as mirroring the unique backgrounds and experiences of the performers as well as those of the audience.
The company travels all over the world with a deep passion for teaching people about Flamenco art, through performance and education.
The performance group will be showcasing their talents at 6 p.m. on April 26 at the Kenworthy Performing Art Center in Moscow. Tickets for the group’s Sunday performance will be $30 per person and can be purchased on Festival Dance’s website.
Additionally, Jesús Muñoz Flamenco will have workshops for youth school groups, featuring a smaller performance.
The organization offers a wide range of dance styles and performance opportunities for all ages to learn and enjoy.
