WSU libero Tinons Munar Galmés is transferring to the University of Colorado Boulder, its volleyball program announced yesterday. This is the second time in her three-year college career that she has transferred.
Munar Galmés came to Washington State from Florida A&M. In her sole year on the Palouse, she led the Cougs in digs (332), digs per set (3.32) and service aces (35). She was named an All-West Coast Conference Honorable Mention for her efforts.
The Buffaloes play in the Big 12 Conference and went to the second round of the NCAA Tournament this past season. They finished last year 23-9 overall. Eight other teams from the Big 12 qualified for the tournament. No. 2 seed Arizona State, which won the conference, made it the furthest: the Sweet 16.
Munar Galmés joins four other liberos on the roster at Colorado: senior Peyton Neal, redshirt junior Avery Bolles, junior Katie Salonga and redshirt freshman Nikki Ott.
This addition could fit, given that Colorado lost its most productive libero from last season, Sarah Morton. However, Munar Galmés will likely have to prove herself if she plans to be the Buffaloes go-to option since she is the only new addition to the libero and defensive specialist corps at Colorado.
Peyton also recorded the third-most digs on the team with 218, so she may be the Buffaloes’ first option heading into the 2026 campaign.
As for the Cougars, this is yet another key asset they have lost through the transfer portal. Setter Italia Bernal walked in December, and earlier this week, they lost middle blocker Lucie Blažková.
Luckily for the Cougs, they have a solid replacement with sophomore Maddy Joswick. Joswick was the number two option at libero and defensive specialist last season, racking up 131 digs and 1.34 per set. She also played in 98 of the 100 sets the team played all of last season, and in the spring season that lasted the past two months.
WSU also has senior Chloe Heimlicher, whom it signed in the offseason from Idaho State to add depth to the libero and defensive specialist position. She tallied 167 digs last season. She did not play in the spring season for WSU.
Regardless of who head coach Korey Schroeder’s primary option is in August, both Joswick and Heimlicher are now more important than ever to WSU. They are the only two liberos on the current roster. However, WSU could utilize the transfer portal to sign another libero. The transfer portal closes May 15.
