WSU volleyball (17-15, 6-14) will play Florida State University (18-10, 12-8) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, according to a WSU Athletic Communications news release. The Cougars have now made it into the tournament for the second straight year.

“Very excited for this team, we had a lot of hard work go into this year,” Head Coach Jen Greeny said in a news conference. “Some ups and downs, some injuries, but the team definitely persevered and came up with some big wins down the stretch… Just really excited and proud of this team.”

The Pac-12 had nine teams selected to play in the tournament, the most of any conference. WSU finished ninth in conference standings, and the team’s season was highlighted by upset victories over No. 25 University of Colorado, Boulder, No. 13 University of California, Los Angeles and No. 20 University of Oregon.

The Cougars first round match against the Seminoles is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.
