Pullman’s city government offices and Neill Public Library will be closed Monday, while its public schools and WSU students will have the day off.

Jan. 15 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a federal holiday celebrating the Civil Rights leader’s birthday. It is always observed on the third Monday in January.

The City of Pullman’s Board of Adjustment, which oversees specifically permitted property uses, will not hold its regular 7:30 p.m. meeting.

All Pullman public schools, as well as the Neill Public Library, will be open for their regular business hours Tuesday.

WSU will not hold classes Monday, but the Center for Civic Engagement will coordinate a day of service where students can earn community service hours at Avalon Care Center, Bishop Place, Friends of Hospice, and the Community Action Center in Pullman as well as the Hope Center in Moscow.

Students can also pick up free tickets in advance at the Beasley Coliseum office for a performance of Katori Hall’s “The Mountaintop,” which reenacts the final hours of King’s life. The play will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 15 in Daggy Hall.
