Buses to run abbreviated routes on Wednesday

IAN SMAY, Evergreen reporter

Due to the Fourth of July, Pullman Transit buses will run on three routes instead of their normal eight routes Wednesday.

Buses will operate on Holiday North and South routes from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., according to a press release. Starting at 4:15 p.m., Transit will run ‘A’ and Loop route, with their South route beginning operations an hour later.

In addition to the different routes, buses will cease to run for the duration of the fireworks display in Sunnyside Park for safety reasons, according to the release. After the fireworks, ‘A’ and Loop routes will both be served by two buses each, while the South route will run with one bus. All routes will drop people off two blocks away from Sunnyside Park for the celebration.

‘A’ route will serve community members at the Pullman Aquatic Center and Dissmore’s IGA, Loop route will serve Walmart and Living Faith and the South route will assist riders at Living Faith, Safeway and Walmart, according to the release. Riders are advised to use the Pullman Transit mobile app to track buses as they will not be making stops at their normal scheduled times.

Dial-A-Ride will still be running normal service from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and donation cans will be available on buses for those wishing to give proceeds toward the funding of the celebration.
