Woman arrested near Colfax for suspected homicide Friday

A homeless woman was arrested Friday evening for a suspected homicide outside of Colfax, according to press release by the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office.

Officers were called to the scene of a women reportedly waving a gun at a car near the intersection of State Route 26 and Colfax Airport Road.

When they arrived officers found 30-year-old Ashley Myers on the side of the road with a baseball bat. After detaining Myers, officers discovered 55-year-old Kenneth Allen of Coeur d’Alene deceased in the vehicle, according to the release.

Myers indicated to police she had intentionally shot Allen. An investigation into the death is currently ongoing in conjunction with the Whitman County Coroner, according to the release.

Officers also found a handgun and a large amount of methamphetamine outside of the vehicle.

Myers will appear in Whitman County Superior Court on Monday afternoon, according to the press release.
