Lane closure on Grand Avenue, Main Street

The Washington State Department of Transportation issued a traffic advisory that there will be construction in Pullman on Grand Avenue and Main Street reducing roads to a single lane from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Oct. 15-19.

However, it is believed this will not affect a driver’s daily commute, Beth Bousley, a WSDOT Eastern Region Communications manager, said.

“I don’t think you can expect long delays at all,” Bousley said. “We have had several similar situations like this before and we are always prepared to keep the roads moving throughout the day.”

Taking the precautionary side by going on alternate routes is an option if drivers feel like playing it safe; however, Bousley said there really is not anything to worry about and that trying to find a different route may delay drivers more than going on the main roads.

“You know, as I told people on the radio, we don’t think there will be any setbacks or slow delays of any kind,” she said. “You really don’t need to plan ahead and take any alternate routes. The roads should be fine and we’ll have spotters to help pedestrian traffic as well.”

It is recommended to leave a few minutes earlier than normal.
