A Whitman County Superior Court jury found Demetrius Robinson guilty of two assault charges after over an hour of deliberation Tuesday.

Robinson faced one count each of fourth and second degree assault stemming from a July 8 incident at a Pullman apartment complex, according to a press release from Whitman County Prosecutor Denis Tracy.

The jury heard testimony from witnesses and watched surveillance footage from the pool area of the complex’s clubhouse that showed Robinson punching and kicking the victim, holding them underwater and striking them with a bottle, according to Tracy’s release.

Tracy, the prosecutor in the case, said in the release that Robinson had a previous felony assault conviction and faces up to a year in prison. The trial lasted all of Wednesday and sentencing is currently scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday in Whitman County Superior Court.

The Pullman Police investigation was carried out by Detective Chris Engle, according to the release.
