MyWSU will be down for maintenance this weekend before spring break to reduce any potential interruptions for students.

According to Jacqueline Southwick, Information Technology Services communication coordinator, the changes will help maintain the online service.

She said myWSU will move to an online server or through an internet-based vendor that provides access to myWSU.

“When we talk about cloud computing, we contract with a provider and we utilize remote resources through internet connection,” Southwick said. “They offer us the ability to move myWSU out to the cloud.”

She said cloud resources provide the same, or a higher quality of service for WSU students, faculty and staff.

“It is more robust,” Southwick said. “It reduces the risk of service disruption and reduce the risk of on-premises equipment failures.”

She said using cloud resources is less expensive and is a smarter financial decision for WSU.

Southwick said this is unlike their usual monthly maintenance.

“This is a significant maintenance because it shifts our entire service structure from on-premises to Software as a Service,” she said.

MyWSU will be down from March 8-10.

Southwick said nothing will change for users after the maintenance.
