Murrow Symposium events today, tomorrow

The 42nd WSU Murrow Symposium will focus on building connections among professionals, students and industry leaders, according to a WSU news release.

The event will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday at the CUB, and the theme this year is “Cultivating Career Connections.”

Events on Tuesday include workshops covering news writing and camera skills, as well as a LinkedIn lab. On Tuesday evening the college will induct alumni Bob Brunkow, Steve Lutz and Dave Huddleston into the Murrow Hall of Achievement, according to the news release.

Wednesday will feature hands-on experiences, as well as industry experts and speakers, including Emmy Award-winning CNN anchor and reporter Ana Cabrera, who will discuss the effects fake news has on media and audiences.

Panelists will look at the communication industry, regarding its challenges and opportunities for positive change and growth. Industry professionals will critique student résumés and offer advice for the professional world, according to the news release.
